If the event is cancelled, a ¥15,000 refund is planned. Cancellations for a team's own reasons are non-refundable.
How to pay
- Submit your team information through the website entry form.
- After review, the organizer will email the team representative with the amount and bank details.
- Transfer the entry fee by the deadline stated in that email.
The bank account is currently being arranged. Eligible teams will be notified by email when the details are confirmed.
Competition rules
- Eligible boats are human-powered Ha-ri boats, Sabani, wooden boats or fiberglass boats. Outrigger-equipped boats may not enter.
- Each team is responsible for transporting, bringing in and launching its boat and for providing paddles of any material, shape or size.
- A standard team consists of 10 paddlers, one steersperson and one drummer, for 12 people. Up to 15 may be registered including reserves.
- Every participant must wear a life jacket from the start until landing at the finish.
- Each team must provide an emergency towing rope and secure it to the boat.
- The approximately 2 km one-way straight course runs from Nishihara Sports Park Kirakira Beach to Yonabaru Marina.
- At the start, 10 paddlers and one steersperson wait aboard. On the signal, the drummer runs from shore, boards the boat and the team starts.
- A boat that leaves shore before its drummer boards will be disqualified.
- Starting positions will be determined by a pre-race draw.
- Flags, uniforms and sails may feature each team's original designs.
- Anyone considered unfit to compete because of alcohol or drugs may not participate.
Safety requirements
Safety first
The race will be cancelled if typhoon or tsunami warnings, advisories, or heavy-rain information are issued. It may also be cancelled at the discretion of maritime authorities, weather services and the event director.
- Report equipment failure, injury or illness to competition staff immediately.
- Bring water and electrolytes, use sun protection and take precautions against heat illness.
- Travel accident insurance is recommended for injuries during your stay in Japan.
Boat delivery
- Bring boats to Nishihara Sports Park between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Friday, November 27 or Saturday, November 28.
- Coordinate the delivery time with the event office in advance.
- Display the team name clearly on the hull.
- Large transport trucks must use the parking area outside the ball field. Tell the office the vehicle size in advance.
- Boats and paddles will receive a safety check before launching.
* A paid boat transport service is available for teams that cannot deliver their competition boat themselves.

- Glass items are prohibited for safety. Please take your rubbish home.
- Keep valuables under your own control.
- No on-site parking. Follow traffic marshals and event staff.
- Do not litter.
- Drones may not be used by general visitors.
- The event will be photographed and filmed; content may be published online.
- Please keep children within sight to prevent them becoming lost.
